Try this typing test and tell me how quick you are! This little test told me:
You type 459 characters per minute
You have 84 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words
To be honest, it was my 2nd time taking the test. The first time I typed one word wrong and my overall score was 81 wpm. I knew I could do better so I did it a second time and got 84. I’ll likely try it a few more times.
I have a very early memory of sitting in front of my mom’s typewriter and memorizing the order of the letters on the keys. It was challenging and exciting, because they weren’t in alphabetical order. And somewhere around age 15, I saved my money to buy my own electric typewriter. It even had an “erase” button, so you didn’t have to start all over again if you screwed up. That was really cool! My how times have changed…

p.s. I’m up to 88 wpm!
The first time I did it, I had 62 wpm with one wrong word. Honestly, I was having a hard time because the sentences didn’t make sense. Once I realized that, I focused. Anyway, our keyboard has really been sticking — it is wireless and I think the batteries are going. I’ll try taking it at work.
I landed a 64 the first time and a 68 the second time. I, like Cindy, had a hard time because it wasn’t making snese to me and then I realized it was the whoel point of it. How fun.
I thought it was a tough test, too. It would have been easier with real sentences. Also, I always look ahead when typing, so everytime it switched to 2 new lines, I had to sit and wait a couple of seconds, and that threw me off.
If I remember correctly, anything over 55 is considered really good for a business setting. I’ve worked really hard at becoming fast. Amy???? Can you beat me?
How fun! It took me 4 tries to get to 84
I started at a 71 with two errors, so pretty good improvement for 5 minutes work! I can see th4ere this might get addicting, though! I thought waiting for the next lines slowed me down a bit too…..
I scored an 83. I enjoy typing when I get into a groove. I can remember impressing my high school typing teacher. Do they even make kids take typing anymore? It was a requirement for us.
I think it would have been easier if they gave you more lines at once – I read ahead too.
I took the test a second time while Joseph was nursing, since I have been typing things one handed lately… I scored a 24. Maybe I should keep taking the test one handed to make nursing at the keyboard easier! I can see why I get frustrated if there is that much difference between my two speeds!
