…for celebrating a very special birthday and preparing for Christmas! Avery turns five on Christmas day and we celebrated her birthday with a party at the Westwood Hills Nature Center last weekend. We had the place to ourselves and the kids got a kick out of learning about a fox snake and even getting to pet it!

Avery and her BFF Parker had fun touching a snake!

We also went on a nature walk in the snow and looked for animal tracks and habitats. It was the perfect party location for Avery, who loves animals. I also liked the fact it was about a third of the price of all the “commercial” birthday party spots around town. 🙂

Avery at her 5th birthday party. She looks so much older than she did at four! I can’t believe she’ll be starting school soon!

Last weekend we also had Alex’s school Christmas concert. He had a special part this year, singing and holding up signs for “Joy to the World.” He did a great job, and I’m grateful the school sells DVDs of the performance so we can watch it again with him soon.

And one more holiday photo, when we visited Santa. The oldest child does NOT like visiting Santa and refuses to even talk with him, let alone pose for a photo. But my Christmas baby loves him. 🙂

Avery brought Rudolph with her to see Santa this year. I heart this pic so much!

I hope you and your family are doing well during this holiday season. I’ve been feeling so swamped and busy, I’m making an extra effort the end of this week to make myself s..l..o..w.. down a little bit and try to enjoy it a little bit more.
